Twittar

Thanks to Twittar developed for Smashing Magazine by Ricardo Sousa. My website commenters now have beautiful avatars with zero effort on their part, other than having a Twitter account that is.

Once a commenter enters their information into my site’s comment section, Twittar automatically scours Twitter to find a matching email address. After Twittar finds said email address, it links the avatar on my site to the one the commenter is using as their Twitter avatar. It is actually a lot less confusing than it sounds and a very simple process. If you want awesome avatars spicing up your comments, be sure to check out Twittar.

My first Wordpress Plugin

Hey guys! I wanted to let everyone know about a new project I am working on. I just began coding my very first Wordpress Plugin/Widget.

OpenTapeSure it’s going to be hard, sure it’s going to be a “trial and error” game, but it’s going to be a great learning experience and hopefully very useful tool.

The widget will be a sidebar version of my new favorite open source web app, OpenTape. See mine in action here. It will allow you to listen to your mixtape right on your sidebar.

OpenTape provides a sleek/simple/friendly way of sharing your mixtape with the world. You can load OpenTape up with as many songs as you want and send your friends a link to listen. OpenTape is hosted on your personal server so you have full control of your mixtape.

Check back soon for more updates on my progress. If you have any feature request please contact me at michael@michaelwschultz.com or leave a comment below.

The Giving Tree

The elves over at MacHeist have done it again. More FREE Apple software. They started with free Mac apps, now iPhone apps as well. Head over to The Giving Tree and check out all the goodies that are available. You can watch iPhone apps “grow” on the tree and once they are big enough, they will begin to wiggle, just like they do on your iPhone! Once they start wiggling, click on them and you will be entered into a drawing for a full version of that app for free. You have to click quick, they only wiggle for about 4-5 seconds. You will be notified wether you won within a few seconds.

All the fun started last night at midnight, so I’m guessing this is a Christmas Eve event, but what a fun one it is. Keep me posted if you win any apps. I won Mr. Sudoku (App Store link) last night on my third try!
